Central TAFE recognises its obligation to provide support services to students, both academically and in encouraging personal and social development. Central TAFE Psychologist Service is available to provide confidential, independent and professional assistance, FREE of charge to all Central TAFE students.
The Psychologist Service provides:
- personal support to assist the student to cope with general life problems
- advisory service to students
- referral service to appropriate external agencies where necessary
- assessment to identify, diagnose and assist students with study and adaptation problems
- psychological assistance and/or trauma debriefing to those involved in critical incidents
The service is designed to provide short-term assistance. Referral will be made for long-term clinical cases.
Referrals
This is a self-referral service, although in some cases Central TAFE staff members may refer with the student's agreement. Attendance is voluntary.
