Flexible learning

Flexible Learning is the term used at Central TAFE to describe a ‘learner-centred’ approach to teaching and learning.

At Central TAFE, flexible learning extends traditional learning practices and aims to provide students with more choices and opportunities to shape their learning experiences to suit their particular needs and circumstances.

Flexible learning at Central TAFE is provided in a number of different ways, such as:

  • printed learning materials that supplement ordinary classes;
  • correspondence courses (the Off Campus Network);
  • Independent Learning Units;
  • Course Support Units;
  • Open Access Workshops and Laboratories;
  • online support for printed materials using WebCT;
  • online support for ordinary classes using WebCT;
  • television programmes supported by printed materials and contact with Lecturers; and
  • Recognition of Prior Learning.

While these options are not available for all courses, the College is continually striving to expand the range of options available to students. Students interested in flexible learning options should consult a Subject Lecturer or Student Services on 1300 300 822.
