Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process whereby skills are formally acknowledged, irrespective of where or how they were acquired for Nationally Recognised Training Programs. CBS Training recognises that many people acquire skills not only through formal education and training but also through informal training or work and life experience.
Work/life experience can refer to paid or unpaid work, involvement with a home business, community organisations, hobbies or similar.
Anyone can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning. If you or any of your employees think that they have already gained the skills required for a Nationally Recognised unit or an entire course detailed in this portfolio through work/life experience or informal training, then they should consider applying for RPL. A successful Recognition of Prior Learning application means that employees can be recognised as already competent for parts or the whole of a nationally recognised qualification
To take advantage of our RPL process please contact the staff at CBS Training. Our Recognition of Prior Learning process includes:
- CBS Training staff will discuss the Recognition of Prior Learning process with employees including evidence requirements.
- We will supply and explain how to use the Recognition of Prior Learning application.
- CBS Training offers continuing support as applicants gather evidence for the Recognition of Prior Learning submission and feedback once it has been assessed.
Once submitted the RPL application it will be assessed within four to six weeks. Should the evidence be insufficient applicants will be asked to submit more information. Once the assessment is successfully completed a Statement of Attainment for partial completion or Certificate for a fully completed award will then be issued by Central TAFE.
The charge for a Recognition of Prior Learning application covers the processing and assessment of the application. This fee varies depending on the number of units applied for in the Recognition of Prior Learning application. Please contact CBS Training for specific prices.
